Terms and Conditions

All repairs will carry a 12 month guarantee unless we state otherwise. Items will not be guaranteed if the advised work is not carried out and the receipt not is provided.

Repairs to chains & Bracelets

1] We will only guarantee the actual repair that we do, and not the entire chain. If we repair 3" from the clasp, this is what we guarantee, if the chain breaks at 6" from the clasp this is a new chargeable job. For this reason, please document where all repairs are carried out.

2] We are unable to offer a guarantee on worn, or stretched chains.

Stone Loss and Stone Setting

1] We will only guarantee stones that we have either set or tightened

2] We will only guarantee stones if the advised work is carried out, a half job or minimum job will not guarantee stones that we deem require extra work. Example, we advise 8 claws, but customer only replaces 2, we will not guarantee any stone held by the 6 claws that were not replaced.

3] We will not guarantee any settings that is only being held by 3 claws, 3 claws are not secure

4]  We will not guarantee any item that has been poorly set

5] We will not guarantee any stones in a worn setting, including grains, claws or channel

6] Chanel set rings must have space bars in the back, at least every 3 stones. Without bars the setting can widen losing stones

7]Any settings where the girdle is exposed when it shouldn't be

8] We will not guarantee any stone that is chipped, cracked or damaged in anyway or have inclusions or imperfections. If further damaged occurs, then this will be chargeable. We will only proceed working on jewellery with damaged stones at customers own risk. Many damaged stones do break further during the cleaning process.

9] We do not guarantee that a diamond or gemstone, once it leaves the shop will not chip, break, scratch, or fracture. We strongly suggest that your jewellery is insured from damage to cover these possibilities. A stone that does have one of these issues cannot be classed as faulty as it is a natural product, and these issues arise usually from impact in wear.

We are unable to guarantee any cut of stones that do not meet these requirements:

Round Brilliant under 0.50ct must have 4 claws

Round Brilliant over 0.50ct must have 6 claws

Emerald Cut must have 4 claws

Oval Cut must have 6 claws

Marquise Cut must have 6 claws

Pear Shape must have 5 claws

Heart Shape must have 5 claws

Trillion Cust must have "v"claws

Shank depth below 1.0mm [except platinum] may require a new shank, consult a member of staff if you are unsure

Checking Jewellery

We are happy to check client's jewellery for any obvious issues free of charge but will not be held responsible if the item fails soon after. We can only offer an opinion at that moment in time with a quick check. Anything more thorough would be chargeable.

1] "Checking Links" when asked to check links on rivet's, bracelets, clasps, etc., We cannot guarantee their loss or durability. Many items cannot be checked without taking them completely apart. This will cause the item to be repaired just because we took it apart. Many items that are wearing ok may have a problem days or weeks later. We can only guarantee items that we actually repair, not the ones that we visually inspect.

2] "Checking Stones" we accept no liability for stones falling out that we have visually inspected. Many stones are held in by soap and debris acting like glue, when dislodged they may fall out. We will only guarantee stones that we gave set, tightened or supplied. A visual check offers no guarantee.

3] We may say your setting is worn, check in 6 to 12months, again we offer no guarantee,  just visual advice at the moment that we see it. If you knock the ring or wear everyday, then it is the client's responsibility to monitor this.

Commission's

1] A deposit is required to begin work on any handmade or bespoke jewellery piece. This covers the cost of materials, design time, and initial labour.

2] The deposit amount will be confirmed at the time of ordering. For bespoke pieces, this is typically a percentage of the total price or the full cost of materials.

3] All deposits are non‑refundable. Once work has begun or materials have been ordered, the deposit cannot be returned, as costs have already been incurred.

4]Any requested changes after the deposit has been paid may affect the final price. Significant alterations may require an additional deposit.

5] If the customer chooses to cancel the order after the deposit has been paid, the deposit will be retained to cover materials and labour already undertaken.

6] The remaining balance is due upon completion of the piece and must be paid before collection or delivery.

7] Estimated completion times will be provided at the time of ordering. These are approximate and may vary depending on the complexity of the design or material availability. Customers will be kept informed of any changes.

8] All jewellery remains the property of The Jewellery Workshop until full payment has been received.

9] Completed items should be collected within 3 months of notification. If the item remains uncollected after this period, The Jewellery Workshop may sell or repurpose the piece to recover costs incurred.

All repairs are carefully assessed by our goldsmiths and carried out only when considered appropriate for the condition of your jewellery. If we identify any additional work that would improve the overall result, we will always inform you and provide these recommendations as optional enhancements. However, if certain works are essential to keeping your jewellery safe, secure, and structurally sound, we may be unable to proceed with the repair unless these essential works are completed alongside. Our priority is to ensure the longevity, safety, and integrity of every piece entrusted to us.
